High School...no musical!

Today Emilee began her 2nd week of high school. So far, so good. She really likes her Spanish teacher and is, for a change, taking a genuine interest in learning this other language we happen to speak at home. Wow, it's only taken 13 years-Go Me! She really dislikes her Word Processing teacher for reasons yet to be defined by Emilee. Picking her up has been an adventure for sure. I have underestimated the times she needs to get to the front of the school twice, and left to look for her. Once, she was more than halfway home by the time I found her! I am very aware that she most likely will not die from walking home. However, it is quite a distance, we live in the desert, there are ample creepy weirdos being relocated to the high desert and she thus far, does not have anyone to walk with. As soon as she has got a couple of buddies to walk with, I will absolutely let her walk home when the weather is not extreme! The girls across the street have changed to a performing arts school this year leaving her buddiless for just a bit.

I have a question. How do you respond to a request for a random school necessity when you are not asked about it until late Sunday afternoon? (Keep in mind...she is in high school now!) Sometime after 4pm yesterday, Emi tells me she needs a posterboard - possibly for tommorow. My first reaction - too bad, sooo sad sista, you're SOL! However since it had been only the frist week, I gave her a pass yesterday. After this, she must advise us of needs Friday, or Saturday at the latest. She must take responsibility and be accountable-que no? (hell, she's lucky we had a dollar to buy one! See my $43 per week post a bit back!) I have got to be a more firm with her or she will appear helpless when I'm around and that is bad, verrry bad.

That's about all the sad excitement for here today. I am super glad to have my internet back. I actually got it back sometime last week, but my nerves and anxiety were off the charts with the 'baby' starting high school! Stupid, I am well aware - no need to point it out, thanks!!

PEACE!
